Machine safety and compliance assessments

Functional machine safety is a very complex, challenging topic. Machine safety surrounds fully understanding the health and safety risks when there is interaction between humans and energised machinery and equipment that has the potential to cause harm or injury. Safety by design can be an expensive capital investment, but not as expensive as serious harm incidents. That is, the costs associated with prosecution, prohibition of operations, asset damage, damage to reputation and the management cost of incident investigation. VIR Consultancy is able to facilitate Functional Safety Operational Risk Assessment workshops to quantify risk for your manufacturing businesses. We then offer industry recognised, safety design processes with a comprehensive safety validation and commissioning service. VIR Consultancy has successfully implemented a number of cutting-edge functional safety solutions in the wood products industry that allowed operators and maintenance staff to regularly interact with high-speed wood processing machines safely and efficiently. Effectively automated safety systems that eliminate the potential for machinery and processes to cause harm whilst optimising manufacturing availability.

certified electrical design

In compliance with the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010; regulations 14 and 58: A design may be certified and may be relied upon for installations work (Regulation 58).Electricity regulations specifically mandate certified designs for high voltage installations and any installation being installed in accordance with Part 1 of AS/NZS3000.
The establishment of the design can be made by:
  • an engineer
  • an electrician who will construct the installation
  • an electrician independent from the construction
  • a person deemed competent
VIR Consultancy as experienced electrical engineers provide certified design services.
